Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This policy explains what Cabsmith collects, why, and the choices you have. The short version: your cut lists stay on your device, you can turn analytics off, and we don’t sell your personal information.

The short version

  • Your projects, parts, stock and settings stay on your device. We don’t upload them and we can’t see them.
  • We collect crash reports and product-usage analytics (via Google Firebase) to keep the app working and improve it. You can turn both off in Settings → Privacy.
  • We don’t ask you to create an account, and we never collect your name, email or any cut-list content.
  • We don’t sell your personal information.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Information you create (stays on your device)

Your projects, rooms, parts, stock sheets, materials, cut diagrams, costs and preferences are stored locally on your device. This content is not transmitted to us and is removed when you uninstall the app. Anything you explicitly export or share (PDF, CSV, DXF, labels) is sent only where you direct it.

1.2 Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Google Play Billing. Google handles your payment; we receive only your subscription/entitlement status (whether Pro is active). We never receive your card or full payment details.

1.3 Diagnostics & crash reports — Firebase Crashlytics

To find and fix crashes we collect crash stack traces, breadcrumbs and device state (device model, OS version, app version and a Crashlytics-generated installation identifier). This can be disabled in Settings → Privacy. It contains no cut-list content and no personal profile.

1.4 Usage analytics — Google Firebase Analytics (GA4)

To understand which features are used we collect product-usage events (for example, “a cut plan was calculated”, app opens, screen views) via Google Firebase Analytics. Events carry only enums, booleans and bucketed numbers — never your labels, project names, dimensions or any cut-list content. Firebase assigns a Firebase app-instance identifier and collects basic device/app info and coarse (city-level) location derived from your IP. You can turn analytics off in Settings → Privacy.

1.5 Advertising & consent

Cabsmith shows no ads inside the app. If we run install or conversion campaigns, we may use your device’s advertising identifier and Google’s Consent Mode to measure how well those campaigns work. Where required (for example in the EEA and UK), we ask for your consent on first run through Google’s User Messaging Platform before any such measurement, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy.

1.6 Permissions

Cabsmith requests only the permissions it needs, when it needs them:

  • Notifications (Android 13+) — to tell you when a calculation finishes in the background.
  • Camera (optional) — only if you use camera dimension capture; requested at the moment you tap it.
  • Internet / network state — for billing and, with Pro, cloud features.

We do not request SMS, call logs, contacts, microphone, file/external storage or precise location.

2. How we use information

  • Operate core features (optimization, diagrams, exports, cost estimates).
  • Process and restore your subscription.
  • Diagnose crashes and fix bugs.
  • Understand feature usage and improve the app.

3. How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that make the app work, for the purposes above:

ProviderRoleData
Google Play BillingPayments / subscriptionsPurchase + entitlement status
Firebase CrashlyticsCrash diagnosticsCrash logs, device state, install ID
Firebase Analytics (GA4)Product analyticsUsage events, app-instance ID, device/app info, coarse location

4. Legal bases (EEA / UK — GDPR)

  • Consent — for any advertising/conversion measurement, requested via the consent dialog and revocable at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — crash diagnostics and product-usage analytics to keep the app reliable and improve it; you can turn these off in Settings → Privacy.
  • Contract — processing your subscription.

5. Your choices & rights

  • Analytics / crash reporting: turn off in Settings → Privacy.
  • Subscription: manage or cancel in Google Play → Subscriptions.
  • Local data: uninstalling the app deletes the projects and settings stored on your device.
  • Access / deletion requests: contact us at privacy@cabsmith.app. Because we hold no account and only diagnostics/analytics keyed to an app-generated identifier, we may be unable to locate data tied to a specific person, but we will honour applicable requests where we can.

Depending on your region (EEA/UK, California and other US states) you may have rights to access, delete, correct or object to processing, and to opt out of “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising — exercise these via the in-app controls or the contact address below.

6. Children

Cabsmith is a tool for woodworking and cabinet making and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Data retention

  • On-device data persists until you delete projects or uninstall.
  • Crash and analytics data are retained by Google for their standard windows and then deleted or aggregated.

8. Security

Data sent to our providers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). On-device data uses the platform’s app sandbox; automatic cloud backup of app data is disabled.

9. International transfers

Our providers (Google) may process data outside your country (e.g. the US and globally) under appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Changes

We may update this policy; we will revise the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
