Getting started with Cabsmith

Install the app, enter your first parts and stock, and read your first optimized cutting diagram — in about five minutes.

Cabsmith turns a list of parts and the sheets you have into the fewest possible cuts. You don’t need an account, an internet connection or any CAD experience — everything runs on your phone. Here’s the whole loop.

  1. 1

    Add your parts

On the Cutlist tab, tap Add part. Type a width and height in any units, a quantity, and an optional material. Repeat for each piece — or generate a whole cabinet from a template.

  2. 2

    Add your stock

Switch to Stock and enter the sheet sizes you’ll cut from (e.g. 2440 × 1220). Set quantity to 0 for an unlimited supply of that sheet.

  3. 3

    Set the saw kerf

In settings, enter your blade width (3 mm / ⅛" is the default). Cabsmith reserves that gap between every cut so the plan matches reality.

  4. 4

    Calculate

Tap Calculate. In a moment you get a numbered cutting diagram per sheet, with the yield percentage and total cut count.

Reading the diagram

Each rectangle is a part, drawn to scale and labelled with its size. The faint parallel lines show grain direction. The red numbers mark the cut order. Tap any part and it lights up everywhere it appears — handy when the same panel is cut several times.

Pinch, pan, fit

Pinch to zoom into a tight nest, drag to pan, and double-tap to fit the sheet back to your screen. On a shop tablet this is the view you’ll keep open at the saw.

Save it or take it to the bench

Export a free PDF cutting plan to print or share, or switch on Workshop mode to walk the cuts one at a time — advancing hands-free with the volume keys. That’s the entire workflow; everything else in Cabsmith just makes these steps faster.
