Edge banding, holes & grooves

Show banding on the right edges, account for its thickness, and mark holes and grooves so the diagram matches the finished part.

A cut list isn’t just sizes — it’s also which edges get banded, where the holes go and which faces are grooved. Cabsmith draws all of it on the diagram so the person at the saw and the person at the edgebander see the same plan.

Edge banding on four sides

Set banding independently on the top, bottom, left and right of any part, each with its own material colour. The diagram shows a coloured strip on every banded edge, and the optimizer can account for banding thickness so finished sizes stay true.

Band before you cut to final size?

If you band oversize and trim, leave banding off the dimension and add it as a note. If your finished size already includes banding, set the band thickness so Cabsmith subtracts it from the core panel.

Holes & grooves

Mark system holes (shelf pins, hinges) and grooves (for grooved-in backs and drawer bottoms) on a part and they appear on the diagram — circles for holes, dashed lines for grooves, inset from the relevant edge. It’s a clear machining reference, and it carries through to DXF export for CNC.

Straight to the router

With Pro, banded edges, holes and grooves export as DXF/SVG geometry — so your nest, your drilling and your grooving all come from the same source of truth.
